The Schlage 660 series deadbolt is the standard by which all other deadbolts measure against. With a solid steel chassis and various strategic inserts, when properly installed this deadbolt turns any solid core door into a fortress. When equipped with a high security cylinder, these locks are virtually impenetrable. If you are serious about preventing forced entry, use this in tandem with an A series or D series latch.

Schlage no longer carries the 160 bolts shown. For marketing reasons Schlage has abandoned their sturdy work horse deadbolt design in favor of an ever alternating series of models that vary in quality. Sadly I must admit that I prefer to use an imitation of a superior design rather than what the people at Ingersoll Rand tell Home Depot is "advanced". The new Schlage deadbolt is fine and I will gladly sell and install it for any customer who prefers. The tactic employed by Schlage on this is exactly the kind of thing Open and Shut wishes to never be associated with. They have purposefully made their product less versatile and interchangeable.
$48.00 to $75.00
Schlage 260 series deadbolts come provided with a 1 inch latch for use on gates and tradesman doors. With a lower profile, these locks are excellent alternatives to locking knobs in unsupervised conditions where primitive forced entry attempts may occur. Will take high security cylinders.
